Set up Tier setting

Tier settings allow you to configure the conditions of the VIP program, including VIP program status, entry method, program start date, and milestones. These conditions determine how the whole program works.
Changing any of these settings will recalculate the current VIP program following the new settings.

Tier settings explained #

Entry method: You can select which method will be used for your customers to enter a tier. There are two entry methods to choose from:
  • Points Earned: The tiers will be calculated based on the total points your customers have earned. Your customers have to earn a specific amount of points to achieve higher tiers.
  • Money spent: Choosing this option will base your VIP program on the total spent by your customers. Your customers have to spend a specific amount of money to get the tiers.
Start date: Choose the date you want the VIP program to start and to be shown on the widget. Your customers’ tiers will be based on the activities starting from this date.
Note: The start date must be a future date.
Milestone: Determine when your customers’ tiers expire. There are two settings to choose from:
  • Lifetime: The customer tier will never expire once it has been achieved. For example: If a customer reaches the highest tier on 30th August, he/she will remain on that tier forever.
  • 1 Calender year: All customer tiers will be reset to Entry Tier at every start of the calendar year (1st January). For example: If a customer reaches the highest tier on 30th August, he/she will remain on that tier until the end of 31st December that year. On 1st January of the following year, he/she will be placed on Entry tier.
Note: This will not affect the total points customers have, please rest assured that your customers can still use points earned in the previous year to redeem discount codes.
How to set up Tier settings#
In the VIP Tiers tab, you will find Tier settings section on the left side of the screen. Tier settings have been set by default but you could change them following your own rule. For that:

    Click on the edit icon on the top right corner of Tier settings section

    Choose Entry method, Start date, and Milestone
  3. 3.
    Click Save

What happens when you change VIP Tier settings? #

NOTICE: If your VIP program is running, changing any conditions of Tier settings could exert a dramatic effect on the current VIP program. You should aware of the effects and announce to your customers all updates before changing Tier settings.
1. Effect of changing Entry method
  • All existing tiers will be deleted and you will have to create new ones
  • By the time you change, the VIP Tier program will stop running immediately and restart 24 hours after with the new Entry method
  • All existing customers’ tiers will be reset to Entry Tier when the VIP program restarts
2. Effect of changing Start date By the time you change, the VIP Tier program will stop running immediately and continue by the new start date. This means customer activities from the time the Start date changed to the new start date will not be counted to calculate customers’ tiers.
3. Effect of changing Milestone The VIP program will recalculate the Tiers following the new Milestone immediately.
